CWB Stalwarts launch Too Jazzy CC
CWB's Head of Delivery Lee Booth, Trustee Gary Shankland and long term volunteer Jamie Burton have recently launched a new cricket team based in Huye, Rwanda.
Huye is an area that CWB has worked in extensively over recent years, providing support to locally based coaches to help grow the game, via the organisation of mass participation cricket festivals, schools coaching and coach education workshops. The rapid development of the game in Huye has led to a number of talented players being identified and a team formed, which has competed intermittently in national competitions. Sadly, the fact that Huye has no cricket ground and the travelling distance to Kigali, where all league matches are held, has meant that the financial commitment needed to enter the Rwandan league has been impossible to meet.
Having secured sufficient funding, TJCC has now been formally accepted into the Rwandan league division 2 and matches will be starting shortly. You can read all about the TJCC journey, including plans for expansion into other CWB locations here: https://toojazzycricket.club/. There is also a link to become a patron to financially support the team for a small monthly amount.
TJCC is exactly in keeping with the CWB ethos and we wish them every success in their first league campaign.
