We currently run volunteer projects to Brazil, Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda and Nepal. Our trips usually last two weeks (a one week option is usually available to coincide with school holidays) and are normally packed full to ensure the maximum impact in the country. Each project is made up of 8-10 volunteers to ensure that the group can handle the numbers of children and split up if necessary. Nepal is typically a smaller group.

Each team will have an experienced volunteer as their team leader, who will coordinate with local ambassadors to arrange all the in-country logistics.

You will typically travel to two or three different areas during a project. In each location, the team would run a day of coach education, a couple of days of schools coaching (3 or 4 schools a day) culminating in a schools festival day at the end of the week.

Typically, there will be a day-off to get the opportunity to experience the culture and incredible scenery that each country has to offer.

We run two sets of projects a year. Our Spring projects tend to run February to March with our Autumn projects late September to early December depending on the country that you go to. Due to working with the local school term time, our project dates are confirmed approximately 6-8 months in advance.

Each project is assigned an experienced volunteer as a project leader. They oversee the logistics including booking accommodation and liaising with the local CWB ambassador to confirm the project itinerary. They are the main point of contact for volunteers in the lead up to a project, whether it’s asking what to pack or advice with fundraising.

Before every project there will be a training weekend in the UK. There you will get to know your team and receive hands-on training with CWB’s coaching methodology that combines fun cricket drills with important health education or social messaging.

Each volunteer will receive CWB branded kit for their trip. There is also the option to purchase additional items at the CWB shop.

Absolutely not! Projects will have a mix of those with cricket experience and those with no knowledge at all. All we ask for is a willingness to work hard and get involved.

We ask all our volunteers to raise a minimum of £950 (£750 for return volunteers) including Gift Aid to cover the costs of the project, including transport, team kit, accommodation and most importantly the cricket equipment that is left in the country.

Not covered in the fundraising are flights, insurance, vaccinations, malaria tablets, DBS and food and drink. We would also ask volunteers to cover the cost of participating in the training weekend.
