Ambassador Nicholas appointed interim head coach for Kenya women
Congratulations to CWB Ambassador and Cricket Kenya coach Nicholas Oluoch who has been appointed interim head coach for Kenya women's national side, for their upcoming international tour of Botwana, which will feature 7 T20I fixtures at the Gabrone Oval.
Nicholas is a passionate and hard working member of the CWB community, who has developed thriving hubs of cricket throughout Kenya over the years. His current focus alongside his day-to-day coaching work is to regenerate a disused cricket oval in Nairobi for the use of young people from the surrounding communities.
On his appointment to the head coach role, Nicholas said:
"Being appointed interim coach for our women's national team is a great opportunity which I am ready to embrace with great humility, and with the knowledge of how sport can do for girls and women as much as it does for boys and men. The girls have really learnt to explore the game and grow from it, as well as now having the chance to make life out of it."
Of the squad on the tour, Nicholas notes many members of the squad were either introduced to cricket by CWB, or have developed as a result of CWB programming:
"We have 7 girls in squad who are as a result of what CWB has done in Kenya since its inception: Daisy Njoroge, Mary Mwangi, Queentor Abel, Edith Wanjiru, Flavia, Esther Wachira, Lavender Idambo and Magi."
Good luck to Nicholas and all the Kenyan women's squad, from all at CWB!
