Everest Basecamp Trek 15th November – 2nd December 2018
On the 15th November I will be heading to Nepal to Trek to Everest Basecamp to raise money for Cricket Without Boundaries [CWB]. I first heard about this charity through Andy Collett whilst playing cricket for Whittington CC. In 2016 myself and Andy went out to Botswana and spent 2 weeks coaching and delivering awareness sessions on HIV/AIDS.
Whilst in Africa I saw a small bit of what CWB does and it has really helped me to understand what I see on TV about kids in Africa and the conditions they live in – for example, I saw kids walking miles for school and kids who have no access to drinking water at their school, or having no lunch because the local council didn’t send any. It was just heart breaking and at that moment in Maun [Botswana] I decided that when I got back to the UK I would investigate and try to make a difference to the lives of these families in Africa
The 2 weeks I spent in with CWB in Africa has been life changing for me and I want to do my best for those people in Africa that I would never meet. This trek will be long and very difficult but knowing I will be raising money so CWB can carry on their great will be my motivation to complete it.
I am hoping to raise £5000 this year to help make a difference to many lives across Africa. I have so far raised around £4456 which includes gift aid. I want to thank everyone who has donated money or items towards this cause. If you would like to sponsor me please visit www.virginmoneygiving.com/anthonynarain
The 2 quotes below kept me going whilst training and will hopefully help me through this trek.
“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give” Winston Churchill.
“We all have our limits. To push beyond those limits sometimes requires something just beyond ourselves. That is what my faith has given me – a secret strength, and help when I have needed it most.” Bear Grylls
Thank you for all your support.
