Gislaine's Story
Gislaine started playing cricket in 2017 at the Ndera cricket hub on the outskirts of Kigali in Rwanda. Since 2020 she has been volunteering as a coach at the hub.
“I wanted to become a coach to share all the knowledge that I have. It is important that there are more female coaches because when the parents see all men and boys coaching they think that cricket is just a game for boys but when they see a female coach they get confident that they can send their girls to play.
Many young people at Ndera don’t have things like shoes and clothes, also during Covid lots of young girls got pregnant so we try and help them and their families, every Saturday we run sessions where we teach them about their bodies and even where they can get medical help”.
Volunteer with CWB to help us find the next Gislaine and start their cricketing journey, while also using the sport as a platform for positive social change.
