A year on and we are delighted to announce that former operations manager Hannah Weaver has been appointed as FGM programme leader to oversee the growth of our work in this area. Hannah said "I am delighted to be working on this issue and to further develop a programme of cricket based activity to tackle this abuse. CWB has been at the forefront of delivering cricket based HIV education over the last 10 years and this is an exciting opportunity to use our sport for development model to tackle an issue which affects many of the communities in which we are working."
Current plans include another partnered project to Kenya as well as working with girls at risk from FGM in communities in the UK. "An estimated 137,000 girls are living with the effects of FGM in the UK. We will work with partners to provide cricket coaching sessions and training to empower those affected to speak out and seek help."
