World Aids Day...
World Aids Day is on 1st December 2011 and CWB are fully behind the global campaign to target delivery of an AIDS-free generation.
With its continuing work in Sub Saharan Africa promoting Positive Awareness of HIV/AIDS through cricket, CWB are adding their weight to the fight against this terrible epidemic.
Startling new scientific evidence shows that people living with HIV who take antiretroviral therapy are 96% less likely to pass the virus to their partner. The model of the UNAIDS Strategic Investment Framework, published this year, shows a possible end to the AIDS epidemic within a generation.
President Barack Obama is expected to build on the foundations laid by Hillary Clinton's speech on November 8th to make a major US commitment on World AIDS Day for creating an AIDS free generation. One of CWB's main UK partner organisations, The Aids Consortium, working with The Stop AIDS Campaign, have recently said that: ''The key for UK organisations and Government is to ensure that the US doesn't make this commitment to an AIDS Free generation alone. With the support of governments and major organisations this historic World Aids Day could be the beginning of the end''.
The vision for an Aids-free generation can only be achieved by organisations and individuals coming together to promote awareness of the global HIV/AIDS problem both home and abroad. By working together we can end the epidemic that has already ended the lives of over 30 million people worldwide.
CWB would like to thank all its volunteers and supporters who have already contributed so much to their on-going campaign to promote positive awareness of HIV/AIDS in Africa. We would also like to encourage everyone to continue their support and to urge friends, family and colleagues to join our team.
On 1st December 2011, CWB is asking all its friends to donate their Facebook/Twitter pages to the cause. It would be great if everyone could post the Red RIBBON as their profile picture and post:
''WORLD AIDS DAY 2011- join CWB in the fight for an AIDS-free generation (www.cwbafrica.com)''
By sending the message to all your friends to support us & World Aids Day, we can continue to fight.
Thank you so much from everyone at Cricket Without Boundaries.
