CWB Returns To Uganda
On 1st October 9 volunteers from the cricket charity Cricket Without Boundaries set off on another project to Uganda. The team consisted of some of CWB's most experienced coaches, new coaches and other volunteers with a particular interest in HIV/Aids awareness.
On this occasion CWB, working closely with the UCA, visited areas new to cricket coaching primary and secondary school children and their teachers in Tororo, Iganga and Masindi. As always the delivery of HIV/AIDS awareness messages was a major part of the teams work, using the well-established ABC messages which are familiar to the children.
One of the highlights of the trip, and a testament to the sustainability of the work CWB does, was the inclusion of local coach Yusuf Nanga who worked and travelled with the CWB team for the duration of their stay. Yusuf was introduced to Cricket 4 years ago by a CWB project and now works as a coach with the Ugandan under 13 side.
Justine Ligyalingi, Chief Executive of the Uganda Cricket Association said "On behalf of the Association we would like to thank the Charity (CWB) for sending out another Team of Coaches to Uganda. According to the preliminary reports from our contacts in the areas of Tororo, Iganga and Masindi , the Team of Volunteers did an excellent job and the schools/ communities enjoyed working with them and benefited from their expertise and experiences shared. We are grateful to all the Team members"
