Bowling machine to Uganda
Cricket Without Boundaries' Uganda project leader Mike Reeves returned to the East Africa Country last month to drop off some vital equipment, meet with Ugandan Cricket Association (UCA) officials and catch up on some old friends.
In a brief visit, sadly marred by the ongoing political troubles in Uganda, Mike took the opportunity of delivering a quality bowling machine to UCA to track the progress of the new cricketers at Kyebambe Girls School, a group he and the team had coached just the month before.
Mike said,
"Kyebambe have only been playing cricket for two years, but they reached the semi final of the national girls school competition and I couldn't be more proud of them. What's more they all wore their CWB 'Bowling AIDS out of Uganda' wrist bands and were even heard to say after a dropped catch - 'be faithful to your team."
"You couldn't get a finer example of what CWB is all about – getting kids enjoying cricket and making those HIV/AIDS awareness messages stick."
Mike's trip was a further stage in the fantastic relationship between CWB and the Ugandan Cricket Association which has seen three projects successfully completed with a fourth in the offing this Autumn.
