Spring projects
For six weeks across February and March 2011, twenty CWB volunteers spread across Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda, to coach well over 2,000 children, qualify many more than 200 new coaches and deliver the Cricket Without Boundaries message.
The projects saw CWB take the game and our HIV/AIDS awareness message to the banks of Lake Victoria and the shadows of Mount Kenya, to universities across Rwanda and to young enthusiastic children everywhere we went.
Each project took cricket forward in their own way - in Kenya we worked with the newly installed local cricket development officers, in Rwanda we moved into new schools in around Kigali and at Mbale in Uganda we saw 165 children come back for their second CWB session.
On a more serious note, we took the game into an orphanage for children with HIV and AIDS in Tumaini and we played with physically disabled children and those with learning disabilities in Butare. Whether it be through the ABC message in schools or a more nuanced message in some colleges, we took the awareness message everywhere we went and we left coaches coaching with it as well.
CWB's Spring projects were a real success and everyone involved can look back on a job well done.
Bring on the Autumn.
