22nd February - 9th March
The Uganda Spring project for 2015 was based in the east of Uganda, visiting Soroti, Mbale and the small town of Tororo.
The team’s trip managed to include an early morning 2 hour live interview on Ugandan radio, a TV appearance, a day where the group managed to coach 1,000 children, a trip to the Sipi falls, swimming lessons and plenty of cricket festivals featuring goats, cattle and other livestock.
The project demonstrated great success in coach education, with an impressive 60 teachers trained in Soroti who proceeded to go on to demonstrate great enthusiasm in using the skills they had learnt in the coaching session and festival day run out of the cricket stadium at Soroti, a great sign for sustainability of cricket in the town.
With a relatively small project team the Ugandan Spring project made great use of the resources available to it, working alongside local coaches and administrators Paul, Tim, Wakamara, John, Emmanuel and Jackson to get the most out of their visit to the beautiful Eastern Uganda.
